Given the current circumstances with the Coronavirus breakout around the globe, it is understandable to be cautious of your health at a time like this. I would like to reach out to you and let you know that the best thing you can do is to remain calm and positive. Be proactive with your health and hygiene, and in addition, build your immunity by taking immune-boosting supplements and eating nutrient-rich foods such as; vitamin C, oregano oil, astragalus, garlic, ginger, turmeric, zinc and vitamin A.. There is evidence to support the fact that building a stronger immune system can help you defend yourself against viruses, so today I would like to share with you some of my favourite nutrient-rich foods to help you build your bulletproof immune system.

1) Immune-boosting tea

Firstly, I would like to share with you a recipe for immune-boosting tea. This tea is a favourite of mine year-round but especially in the flu-season when the chances of getting sick are heightened. Ginger, turmeric, and zesty fruits are well known for their immune-boosting properties and mixed with the soothing addition of honey, this tea also tastes delicious.

  • 1cm fresh ginger
  • 1cm fresh turmeric
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon high-grade manuka honey
In a cup of boiling water, grate the ginger, turmeric. Next, add the zest of one lemon and manuka honey. Let it steep for about 5 minutes and drink this tea 2-3 times daily.

2) Beetroot & Blackberry Snack

My best advice is to always step away from the packaged food and create beautiful, healthy snacks from fresh produce. If you want something that is simple, tasty, and great for your immune system, try these blackberry and beetroot snacks. Beetroot and blackberries are both an excellent source of vitamin C and antioxidants which are crucial for immune support.

To make these, simply slice the beetroot into small cubes, top with a blackberry, and insert individual toothpicks in to hold them together. This looks great served on a platter and something the whole family can enjoy.

3) Carrot Dip

Once you start making your own dips you will never go back to store-bought dips! The health benefits of making your own are immeasurable as you know exactly what you're putting in and exactly what you're leaving out. This recipe is for my carrot dip, which is full of vitamin A and tastes incredible.

  • 3 organic carrots
  •  1 clove garlic
  • half cup of raw almonds
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Pinch of rock salt
  • A quarter cup of filtered water
To make this, cook the carrots and the garlic for 10 minutes until softened. Next, place them in the blender with the raw almonds, olive oil, rock salt, and water. Blend it to combine and then refrigerate. You can serve this dip with your choice of corn chips or spread it on wraps and foods of an amazing flavour.
